Everything about work—the gig economy, the focus on soft skills, the intergenerational workforce, the rise of technology, the tight labor market, high customer expectations—is forcing us to evolve at warp speed. As leaders, our jobs have gotten more complex, and our roles have never been more important. Working together is essential, as it is not likely one person can solve the more complex problems. The 2020 leader must inspire, engage, and train people to collaborate, innovate, and problem solve. Nurturing, developing, and building trust are key, as we must become master influencers. This requires us to bring our best selves to work every day.

Quint Studer says not only is this doable, but it’s also a gift in disguise. The challenges we face spur us to grow, and the outcomes are incredibly fulfilling. They make us better people. Often leaders are looking for a wizard or some magical answer. There’s no need to search for Oz because leadership is an inside job. When we commit to getting the fundamentals right, we’ll have all we need to become self-aware and coachable, manage change in a smart way, create companies that can adapt to a shifting economy—and fulfill our human responsibility to make a real difference in the lives of others.

In this presentation, Quint will focus on how to develop the leader in you. He’ll also unveil tips for optimizing employee performance and driving results from his new book The Busy Leader’s Handbook: How to Lead People and Places That Thrive (Wiley, Oct 2019). www.thebusyleadershandbook.com
