Summary
In this post-pandemic world, the environment of healthcare is crying out for a different type of leader. We need leaders who understand and prioritize well-being and care-for-self in their own lives and in the lives of their team members and colleagues. We need leaders who realize that healthcare is not like every other business. We need leaders who can not only get results but can connect with the heart and mind of their team members in a way that empowers them to care deeply for their patients. We need leaders who understand, “It starts with you, but it’s not about you!”
Our team set out to learn more about this type of leader and we found that this leader did exist before the pandemic. In fact, you have possibly experienced such a leader during the course of your career. This is the leader you would follow to the “ends of the earth.” We’d like to share stories about these leaders and encourage others to become this leader – this Human-Centered Leader.
Our world needs Human-Centered Leadership in Healthcare. This is more than a leadership style or a philosophy – It’s a movement! We’re asking healthcare leaders to join the momentum.
