Summary
Many nursing new hire orientation programs consist of hours, days, sometimes weeks of didactic lectures and online instruction of organizational policies, technology applications, and operational practices and workflows. And while these are notably important and instrumental in equipping a new employee with a readiness to care for others, bringing the essence of each individual – their magnificence – and inspiring them to BE their best, is an essential element to the equipping equation.
In this presentation, we will share how we engage the hArt of newly hired employees, in an interactive exploration of their intrinsic strengths and individual magnificence that unite them together and hold up the mirror to their collective choice to care for others and create exceptional human experiences.
Creativity, connection, and conversation form the basis of this orientation experience, where participants draw together (virtually, on Zoom) an artistic masterpiece, depicting exceptional patient experiences. The presentation closes with a video art walk of their drawings and the meaningfulness of this shared experience.
